MediaTel’s Connected Consumer Awards, also known as The Connies, launched this year to recognise innovation in media. At the inaugural ceremony in June, Grand Visual picked up the award for Best Innovation for OpenLoop, the campaign management tool that enables live and reactive Digital Out of Home campaigns to run across multiple networks and formats. “It’s accessible, simple and usable,” said Mark Cross, explaining the judges’ decision. “It makes uptake of an emerging technology much more effective and this really felt like a genuine innovation.”

The Best Innovation category was open to any new product or service that has the potential to bring about market change. Grand Visual showcased OpenLoop’s ability to unlock the potential of the fast growing Digital Out of Home medium and impressed the judges. Judge Richard Marks, founder of Research the Media, explained that the panel was looking for ideas that really helped the industry. “I think a personal favourite of mine was the winner of the Innovation category which was the Grand Visual entry for OpenLoop.”

The awards were a part of the two-day Connected Consumer conference, a commercially-focused event that saw live demonstrations of first, second and third screen technologies. Click here for a full break down of the winners.
