For the upcoming release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the highly anticipated film from JK Rowling’s Wizarding franchise, Grand Visual produced an extensive Digital OOH campaign delivered to 38 countries.
The film follows the adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school. Starring Eddie Redmayne, the film is the first instalment in the Fantastic Beasts series, and was released worldwide on the 18th of November.
To support the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ movie release, Grand Visual produced over 300 formats for digital OOH, including new markets such as Guatemala and Israel. The United Arab Emirates used a wide variety of formats including an ‘ultra-portrait’ format for the digital pillars in the Mall of the Emirates.
The digital OOH campaign featured multiple character and beast animations, and bespoke ‘Wanted Poster’ animations which could all be localised across portrait, landscape, super landscape and multipanel formats. For the European premiere in Leicester Square, we produced bespoke animations for giant screens which each showcased the different beasts from the film.
And in a first for a Warner Bros, we also produced a dynamic countdown clock, which counted down to the release of the film. The dynamic campaign was distributed across Ireland, Croatia and also featured in the Warner Bros reception in London.
The sheer scale of versions of creative and the number of global media bookings is testament to the fact that confidence in the medium’s use is growing rapidly across the globe and a sign of even greater things to come.
